BlackBerry and Idea have joined hands to let customers of both brands to grab a BIS 1GB 2G plan by shelling out just Rs 83 per month against a yearly rental of Rs 999, excluding taxes. This plan is meant for BlackBerry OS 7 devices from the Canadian company and can be availed of by all postpaid customers of the Indian carrierright away.
In order to activate this newly priced planIdea subscribers can just send the SMS ‘ACT999ARP’ to the number 12345 from their BlackBerry OS 7 devices. This will activate the BIS 1GB data plan which aims to bring faster browsing, messaging and mails to its users.

Ashish Gupta, who’s the director of carrier sales at BlackBerry, says that this offer has been devised by them so as to bring its range of services ‘not only to the consumer but also the enterprise user.’ On the other hand, Sashi Shankar, the chief marketing officer at Idea Cellular has asserted that this new 1GB annual data plan will proffer added ‘value and convenience’ to BB OS 7 users on the Idea network.
The BlackBerry 9720 is the flagship among the few OS 7 handsets which the company is selling in India right now. That’s because its main focus is fixed on its OS 10 devices which are soon to receive a number of new functions including the ability to run Android apps. The recently unveiled Passport and Classic smartphones are all set to be new entries in this range.
