No jail for him
Singer CeeLo Green will be due back in court in March next year to check on his progress.
Grammy-winning R&B singer and former "The Voice" judge CeeLo Green avoided a jail sentence last week when he pleaded no contest to giving a woman the drug ecstasy in 2012.
Green, 39, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, was charged last year by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office with one count of furnishing a controlled substance.
He was sentenced to three years of probation by Superior Court Judge Mark Young, and ordered to complete 52 Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings and 360 hours of community service.
Prosecutors rejected a rape charge against Green when he was charged with the felony drug charge in October last year, reported People magazine.
His attorney Blair Berk has said Green had consensual sex with the 33-year-old woman he gave ecstasy to during the July 2012 dinner.
According to prosecutors last year, Green "slipped" ecstasy to a woman while the two were dining at a Los Angeles restaurant.
Green pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of giving ecstasy to the woman without her knowledge.
The woman had initially filed a police report accusing Green of sexual assault, but prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to charge Green with rape of an intoxicated person.
TMZ reported that Green and the woman had been dating for months, and he flew her out to LA and Las Vegas on several occasions to be with him.
There were also witnesses in the bar who claimed she walked out looking fine.
Green will be due back in court in March next year to check on his progress.
Earlier this year, Georgia native Green said he had decided to step down from his role as a judge on NBC's popular singing competition The Voice, saying: "I just don't want to wear out my welcome there."
He appeared as one of the original judges for four seasons of The Voice, and was replaced by songwriter Pharrell Williams.
