Chris Brown pleads guilty in D.C. assault, gets

Chris Brown pleaded guilty today to misdemeanor assault for punching a man who tried to photobomb a picture with Brown outside a Washington, D.C. hotel last year, but was sentenced to time served.
"As Chris Brown himself has now finally acknowledged, he punched a man in the face without provocation in the District of Columbia," Ronald Machen, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, said in a statement via the Associated Press. "No matter your status or celebrity, you will be held accountable for such conduct in our city."
The arrest prompted Brown, still on probation for his violent attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, to check into prophylactic rehab for anger management, but he was tossed out after he allegedly threw a rock at his mother's windshield following a counseling session. A judge ordered him back into rehab, but he was kicked out again and wound up in jail. A judge determined the D.C. arrest was a violation of his probation stemming from his Rihanna attack; Brown served nearly four months in jail before being released in June.
In court today, Brown said that he was sorry but did not otherwise comment on the case. His lawyer argued against penalizing Brown further, saying he spent months in jail and in inpatient counseling since the attack, and that Brown wants to focus his attention on his music and career.
Brown's assault victim has a $1.5 million civil suit pending against Brown and his bodyguard,Christopher Hollosy, who was convicted earlier this year of misdemeanor assault but has not yet been sentenced.
