The X Factor 2014: Dermot, Tulisa and Sarah-Jane Crawford in Bermuda Triangle plane scare

Dermot O’Leary, Tulisa Contostavlos and Xtra Factor host Sarah-Jane Crawford thought their time was up when the plane flying them from judges’ houses back to the UK plunged over the Bermuda Triangle.

The trio were joined by Louis Walsh’s X Factor groups and a TV crew following their luxury stay in Bermuda when the commercial flight hit bad weather.

A source on board told The Sun: ‘We were all terrified the plane was going to go down.

‘We were heading downwards and there was a lot of screaming and shouting. Nobody stayed calm. Some of us thought we were going to die.’

The source added: ‘The pilot told us the extreme conditions hadn’t been picked up on the radar system, so they had to adjust the engines. That caused the plane to dip.’
