THE family of murdered journalist Steven Sotloff have spoken for the first time since their son’s death.
In a statement read by the family spokesman, Barak Barfi, Steven’s parents spoke proudly of his work as a journalist.
They wanted the world to know that “he was no war junkie … he merely wanted to give a voice to those who have none.” Barfi said.
“Steve was no hero. Like all of us, he was a mere man who tried to find good concealed in a world of darkness. And if it did not exist, he tried to create it.”
They said that “his spirit will endure in our hearts” and made a very strong statement about not allowing the enemies of the United States to paralyse its citizens with fear.
The family also sent their prayers to the family of James Foley, who are also in mourning, after the death of their son last month, also beheaded by IS militants.
